Hair Colouring
Hair colouring has been around for many years now, and the majority of the population has dyed their hair at some point in their lives. I am fully qualified and experienced in all types of hair colouring, full head tints, cap highlights, woven highlights, frosting, colour correction, and also colour stripping. So with all these skills I am confident we can achieve whatever you require.
I have done many clients hair colours, from subtle natural colours to either brighten up natural hair colour or to cover up those dreaded greys. Highlights or tints to change your hair colour from dark to light or light to dark. If you want something a bit more funky all over or some streaks, in pinks, purples, greens, blues and many more.
I guarantee to get close to the roots of your hair for highlights and also guarantee my products cover up grey hair. The products I use are Wella, Koleston Perfect or LK Colour which are very good products used all over the world in many hair salons. I have used these products from when i started college in 2005 therefore I have every confidence in these products.
Some of the services I offer are not on my price list, e.g. colour correction as this can ony be priced by consultation because I would need to see your hair to check the condition and advise you on if what you want to achieve is realistic. If it is I will then discuss how long it will take to achieve the desired result.
In some cases a hair test may be necassary to check the elasticity in the hair and also a small colour test. This will involve me cutting a small piece of hair from your head and colouring this piece of hair. Once I have checked the colour is achievable I will then stretch the hair slightly to check it doesnt snap too easily and returns back to its original state. If it is slightly weaker than I would like I would discuss this with you and we could do a conditioning treatment to help your hair. The condition of your hair depends on the strengh of your hair, which of course is affected by what you have previously done to your hair e.g. if you have changed colours often or straighten your hair on a daily basis. But there is usually a treatment out there that can help improve elasticity in your hair.
Please note: I will not colour anyones hair without a simple allergy test. I apply a small amount of tint to the crease of your elbow, or behind your ear and leave it for 24-48 hours. It will be very easy to tell if you have an allergy as it will cause discomfort or a rash, however this is very rare.
People sometimes ask me if itching means you could be allergic to the tint and in the majority of cases I would say no.The tint is a chemical and when first put on your skin it does itch, as it is not a natural product. If it continues for more than half an hour, then yes this could mean you have an allergy to the products.
If a professional was not to test your skin with their products people can end up with itchy sore scalp, cracked weeping skin, or in extreme circumstances anaphalatic shock which can cause serious breathing difficuties and cause the face and head to swell. So for these reasons I refuse to do hair colouring without a skin test, even if you have previously had your hair coloured and was fine. Its purely for the safety of yourself!
